Talking about countries and people

When you ask about a person's country, you can ask: Where are you from? You can also ask about their nationality — for example, British, German, or Turkish. Each country has its own flag and a capital city. Ankara is the capital of Turkey, Berlin is the capital of Germany, and London is the capital of the UK.

If you do not know how to write a name, ask the person to spell it. The English alphabet has 26 letters from A to Z. Some names use a hyphen, like Anne-Marie or Jean-Luc. Two short letters joined by a hyphen are still one name.
